@mjpucher -- The fact that you believe Chaotic processes is the future of business doesn't say much for your advise... agreed processes require flexibility but standardization for quality assurance and optimum productivity is just as critical!

@mjmills56 -- BPM is in major demand and continuously growing since BPM is now in a very mature corporate adoptive stage.

@bdied --- The tasks are not assigned to individuals but to systems or roles --then the roles are assigned to- resrouces. One role may have more than one resource associated to it. A resource can also play more than one role (primary vs. secondary roles). Beyond role assignment, specific rules can be set to automatically assign tasks depending on workload, type of request, etc.

As a process mapping consultant, it is imperative to get everyone to see not only their own procedures, but how they interconnect into the organizational structure. Once in place and agreed upon by all the contributors, you begin to be able to challenge the current way of doing business and assist them in finding inefficiencies that could be costing the business thousands of dollars. This seems for me Its TOTALLY THE WRONG WAY. one never assign work to persons. what if that guy gets sick, fired or has way to much work to handle. BPM is all about managing the workload. Assigning flows to a user eliminated that.
