thats crazy cool! i been thinking about doing something like this for our home. this is the same exact idea i had too! about how many things can you have running at the same time with that set up before maxing it out??? also, how much did you spend on everything.

What, and how much equipment would you recommend for going off grid? Like for a hunting cabin or something like that?

Hi, what brand is your 1000 watt inverter? Secondly, is this a pure sine wave or modified sine wave? Lastly, how has this particular inverter performed for you? Have you had any problems with it? Thanks.

Using a battery charger to recharge from the grid adds 3 points (AC 2 DC, charge battery, DC 2 AC) where you loos grid sourced energy over throwing a switch that switches you to grid power when the sun doesn't fully shine and your batteries are depleted.

@AussieHomestead Funny you mention that: my typical "outage prone" area hasn't had a single outage or brownout or anything since I installed an off-grid backup system. BUT like a lot of things in life that's usually how it works.

Nice! Does the Tri-Metric have a computer interface? I know one of the models does, and I'm curious to see how that goes because I can't be constantly running in the basement where my system is located and chck on it. The computer interface is appealing because it can upload info to the internet live and also make graphs and charts using Excel. Just curious if you've experimented with that.

Nice set up.When the grid power goes out and everyone else in the neighbourhood gets out candles, "you" still have power :).....it's a great feeling.

Ive watched about 15 or 20 similar videos and yours is the best, the most clear and audible, for the scale.
